About Brittany McLaughlin

Brittany began her dog training journey in Worcester with her own dogs, Link, a Parsons Terrier-Beagle mix, and Navi, a German Shepherd mix. Growing up around animals, she had long hoped to turn her interest in dogs into a career. After years of training her own dogs and helping others, she joined Off Leash K9 Training in 2021.

Brittany works with dogs of different breeds, sizes, and personalities, with a particular focus on obedience and reactivity. She is also committed to continuing her professional education and regularly attends dog training seminars and educational events.

Her continuing education has included advanced seminars taught by trainer Larry Krohn, where she gained additional knowledge and hands-on experience related to canine aggression, reactivity, and behavior modification. Brittany believes trainers should continue learning and refining their skills throughout their careers.

Outside of training, Brittany enjoys exploring New England’s hiking trails with her own dogs. That interest in outdoor activities also connects with her goal of helping owners develop greater communication and practical obedience with their dogs.

Brittany’s Training Philosophy

Brittany believes behavior should be considered in context. Fear, overstimulation, confusion, frustration, or a lack of understanding can affect how a dog responds, so she encourages owners to consider what may be contributing to a behavior before deciding how to address it.

Training Tip From Brittany: “Your dog isn’t giving you a hard time. Sometimes they’re having a hard time. Fear, overstimulation, confusion, frustration, or lack of understanding can all affect performance. Figure out the reason before deciding how to respond.”
