About Owen Winslow

Owen grew up in Ipswich, Massachusetts, and now lives in Lynn on the North Shore with his wife, two young children, and their Belgian Malinois mix, Otto. His lifelong love of dogs began with his family’s pets, but rescuing Otto helped turn that interest into a passion for training.

That experience eventually inspired Owen to leave a decade-long career in Boston real estate and pursue professional dog training with Off Leash K9 Training. Over the past 5 years, he has developed experience working with dogs through Board and Train programs and private lessons.

Owen has a particular appreciation for working breeds and their drive and intelligence. His approach is tailored to the individual dog, with attention to what each dog and owner need from training. During Board and Train stays, he treats dogs as part of his family while working on practical obedience and everyday skills.

Owen also places a strong emphasis on owner education. His goal is to give owners the knowledge and confidence to continue reinforcing their dog’s training and more fully include their dog in everyday life.

Owen’s Training Philosophy

Owen believes obedience works best when it becomes part of everyday life rather than something practiced only during formal training sessions. Consistently reinforcing skills throughout normal routines gives dogs more opportunities to understand and practice what they have learned.

Training Tip From Owen: “Make obedience part of life, not a scheduled event. The strongest dogs aren’t only trained during formal sessions. Their owners reinforce training throughout the day.”
